报告内容:

Thick prismatic layers are critical for high accuracy flow simulations. They may serve as useful tools for a number of engineering problems including deformation and shape optimization, geometric modeling of icing and many others.

We consider the problem of constructing very thick prismatic layers, essentially creating space filling variants of prismatic layers or global advancing front layer generation.

This complex problem is split into two subproblems: the first one is related to construction for so-called "technological" boundary layers, namely a set of space filling thick prismatic layers, while another one is related to refinement, smoothing and near-boundary orthogonalization of technological layered mesh resulting in final computations mesh suited for flow simulations.

Ability of layered mesh generator to handle very complex test cases is demonstrated.

Historical flashbacks for 20 years old unpublished results on 2d hyperbolic meshing using explicit generator based on Godunov-type scheme with prescribed side and upper boundaries are presented and implications of these results in 3d are discussed.
