Title: Smart sensor systems and its applications
Abstract: Recent advances in sensor miniaturization and power efficiency, with reduced manufacturing cost, make multi-model smart sensors ready for dense deployment. Smart sensors act as our eyes and ears to acquire ambient information from natural and built environments. Smart sensors also facilitate interactions between human and the surrounding, to improve the quality of life and the efficiency of work. Various challenges, such as sensing material development, data acquisition and processing, and data communication, are currently under active research. This presentation will showcase UniSA’s research projects on multi-model sensor systems, including healthcare, mining, and surveillance applications.
Biography: Ivan Lee received BEng, MCom, MER, and PhD degrees from the University of Sydney, Australia. He was a software development engineer at Cisco Systems, a software engineer at Remotek Corporation, and an Assistant Professor Ryerson University. He was a visiting scholar at Academia Sinica, and Peking University. Currently, he is a Senior Lecturer at the University of South Australia, and a Haiten scholar at Dalian University of Technology. He served as a Program Chair of the 2008 ACM International Conference on Image and Video Retrieval (CIVR), and a General Chair of 2013 Australasian Computer Science Week (ACSW).
