题目:Pushing the Limits of Wireless Sensing
摘要:Wireless is ubiquitous and playing increasingly important roles in our everyday lives. While wireless technologies have achieved a great success in data communication, wireless signals are actively exploited in recent years for sensing, enabling exciting new applications including indoor localization, gesture recognition, respiration sensing and even material identification. While promising results have been achieved, there are still issues remaining, hindering the adoption of these systems in our everyday lives. In this talk, multiple methods are introduced to address several fundamental issues with wireless sensing: i) sensing range is limited; ii) the sensing granularity is still coarse and iii) contactless multi-target sensing is challenging. These methods can be applied to benefit a large range of applications and are not limited to a particular wireless technology. 1) The first system mD-Track (MobiCom '19) employs information from as many dimensions as possible to push the sensing granularity and address multi-target sensing issue; 2) We propose a novel method to create virtual multipath to boost the sensing granularity of fine-grained activities (CoNEXT '18); and 3) we employ an antenna array to significantly increase the sensing range (Ubicomp '19).
